Getting to Siquijor — Every Route, Price & Schedule

Most people reach Siquijor via a 1-hour ferry from Dumaguete. But there are faster options from Cebu and Bohol — including brand-new flights launched December 2025. Here's every route with real prices.

TL;DR

Ferry from Dumaguete: 18+ daily, 40–60 min, ₱328–580 (OceanJet/Anika Star). NEW: Sunlight Air flights from Cebu, 25 min, 4x/week (Dec 2025+). Ferry from Bohol to Larena: 1 hour, less frequent. Pick Dumaguete unless you're coming from Cebu (fly) or Bohol (ferry). Book ferries 1–2 days ahead during peak season.

Dumaguete to Siquijor Ferry (Main Route)

This is the workhorse route. Dumaguete City is only 35 km from Siquijor's main port, and ferries run constantly all day. If you're island-hopping through the Visayas or flying into Cebu, this is your most reliable option.

Ferry Operators

OceanJet and Anika Star HS (Star Marine Shipping) dominate this route. Both operate multiple daily departures.

Schedule & Booking

Ferries run on a frequent schedule, typically every 30–60 minutes during peak hours (8 AM–6 PM). Off-peak (early morning/late evening) trips are slightly less frequent but still available.

Where to book:

Tip

During peak season (December–February), book 1–2 days in advance, especially for OceanJet. Early morning (6:30–7 AM) departures are less crowded than mid-day sailings. Ask for the 6:30 AM slot and you'll avoid tour groups.

Travel Time & What to Expect

Journey time: 40–60 minutes depending on sea conditions and vessel type. OceanJet's newer ferries are faster (40 min) than traditional boats (60 min).

On the boat: Covered seating area, basic toilets, small canteen selling water and snacks. Most travelers sit outside to feel the breeze. Bring a light jacket or sarong — spray is common and air-con cabins are chilly.

Arrival port: Most ferries dock at Siquijor Town Port (central). Some Anika Star trips dock at Larena Port (south side). Ask when booking which port — doesn't matter much, but know it for transport planning.

Cost Breakdown

Operator Price Range Duration Frequency Best For
OceanJet ₱350–580 40 min 18–20/day Budget + Speed
Anika Star ₱304–350 50–60 min 12–15/day Budget-focused
Warning

The sea between Dumaguete and Siquijor can get rough during monsoon season (June–September). If you suffer from seasickness, take medication 30 minutes before boarding or consider flying instead.

Cebu to Siquijor Flights (NEW: December 2025+)

This is brand-new and a game-changer for travelers coming from Cebu or flying into Cebu via international hub. Sunlight Air launched direct flights on December 15, 2025.

Flight schedule (typical, confirm on website):

What to Know Before You Fly

Luggage: ATR aircraft have weight limits. Typical allowance is 20 kg checked + 5 kg carry-on. Overweight fees are steep (~₱500/kg). Pack light or pay extra.

Siquijor Airport: Siquijor's airport (Lazi Airfield) is small but functional. Located in Lazi (south). Ground transport: tricycle to Siquijor Town (~15 min, ₱200–300) or arrange hotel pickup.

Weather delays: ATR planes have strict weather minimums. If it's squalling, flights can be delayed or cancelled. Not common but possible during monsoon months (June–August).

Bohol to Siquijor Ferry (Tagbilaran–Larena)

If you're visiting Bohol first, this is a direct route. However, it's less frequent than Dumaguete, so only use it if you're specifically coming from Tagbilaran or Bohol Island.

Route Details

Booking & Logistics

Tagbilaran Port ticket offices are straightforward. Walk up and buy tickets. Schedule is less predictable than Dumaguete, so arrive early (1–2 hours) to confirm departure times.

Getting from Tagbilaran airport to port: ~15 km, roughly 20 minutes by taxi or Grab. Cost: ₱200–350. If your flight lands early, you can usually catch a ferry that same day.

When to Use This Route

Route Comparison: Which Should You Pick?

Route Time Price Frequency Best For
Dumaguete Ferry 40–60 min ₱328–580 18+ daily Most travelers
Cebu Flight 25 min ₱2,000–3,500 4/week Coming from Cebu; want speed
Bohol Ferry 60–90 min ₱400–600 2–4 daily Island-hopping; Bohol → Siquijor

Decision Tree

Flying into Cebu International? Take the Sunlight Air flight (25 min). No long ferry journey. Book early for best prices.

Flying into Manila, then to Dumaguete? Ferry from Dumaguete (most practical, good transport infrastructure).

Island-hopping Bohol first? Ferry from Tagbilaran to Larena (direct, less crowded).

On a tight budget? Ferry from Dumaguete via OceanJet or Anika Star (₱300–350, frequent, reliable).

What to Pack for Your Journey

For ferries: Bring water, a light jacket, sea-sickness tablets if prone, and keep valuables on you (not in checked bags if there is luggage storage). Ferries are safe but crowded during peak times.

For Sunlight Air flight: Pack within 20 kg checked + 5 kg carry-on limits. Arrive 1 hour early (small airport, no long queues). Bring a small bag for duty-free purchases if your layover is in Cebu.

Getting Around Once You Arrive

From Siquijor Town Port, you'll see tricycles waiting for passengers. Negotiate a fare before getting in (typical: ₱100–300 depending on destination). Or call your accommodation — many hotels offer pickup for a small fee or free if you book directly.

🏨

Pre-Book Your Accommodation & Arrange Pickup

Contact your hotel via email before arrival. Many offer free or cheap pickup from the ferry port, which beats negotiating with tricycle drivers at the dock.
