Siquijor Itineraries — Day-by-Day Plans That Actually Work

Siquijor is small enough to motorbike around in a day, but rich enough to fill a week. Here are four tested itineraries with real timing, costs, and the honest trade-offs for each length of stay.

Quick Navigation
TL;DR — Itinerary Quick Reference

2 days: Island loop (Paliton sunset + Salagdoong cliff jumps + Cambugahay Falls) — ₱1,500–2,000 on a budget, ₱2,500–3,500 mid-range. 3 days: Add one full diving day (₱2,500–3,500) or cultural village exploration. 5 days: Full exploration including Apo Island day trip (₱3,500–4,500), two diving days, and all major beaches. 7 days: Deep immersion — Apo Island overnight, advanced diving certs, remote beaches, local hiking, and genuine downtime. Best season: November–May.

The 2-Day Essential: Island Loop & Beach Hopping

Perfect for a long weekend or travel-day recovery. You'll hit the three main beaches and the most famous waterfall. This works best if you rent a motorbike or book a private driver for ₱1,000–1,500 per day.

Day 1: Sunset Circuit

Tip

On Day 1, start from Dumaguete (ferry from Cebu) rather than Larena. Dumaguete has better restaurants, more motorbike rentals, and gives you a full 10 AM start. Ferry is ₱328–580 (OceanJet) or ₱304–350 (Anika Star), 40–60 min. Arrive by 9 AM.

Day 2: Hidden Coves & Departure

Expense Budget Mid-Range
Motorbike rental (2 days) ₱700 ₱1,000
Ferry (round-trip) ₱656–1,160 ₱656–1,160
Entrance fees (falls, beaches) ₱150 ₱150
Meals (6 meals × ₱175) ₱1,050 ₱1,500
Accommodation (1 night) ₱300–500 ₱800–1,200
Total ₱2,856–3,556 ₱3,706–4,510

The 3-Day Sweet Spot: Beaches, Falls & Choice

Three days is the ideal length for Siquijor. You get the 2-day essentials plus one full specialized day: either diving, cultural exploration, or advanced hiking.

Days 1–2: Island Loop (as above)

Day 3: Choose Your Adventure

Option A: Diving Intro Day (₱2,500–3,500)

Cost: ₱2,500–3,500 for two dives (certified), ₱4,500–5,500 for discovery course + two dives (uncertified). Includes equipment and guide.

Option B: Cultural & Nature Day (₱0–500)

Cost: ₱50–500 depending on guide and meals.

Option C: Advanced Hiking Day (₱0–400)

Cost: ₱200–400 for guide and meals.

1

Trying to fit Day 3 into a ferry slot too early.

Don't book a 1 PM ferry if diving. Post-dive rest is mandatory, and rush creates stress. Extend to Day 4 or choose a non-diving option.

The 5-Day Explorer: Full Immersion

Five days gives you time to dive twice, explore remote beaches, and still have downtime. This is the ideal length for serious relaxation + adventure mix.

Day 1: Arrival & Beach Acclimatization

Day 2: Waterfalls & West Coast

Day 3–4: Apo Island Day Trip + Extended Diving

Tip

Book Apo Island dive trip the day before with a dive operator. Operators: Sea Pearl Divers (Facebook: Sea Pearl Diving Siquijor), Coco Grove Resort, or Tiki Bar's affiliated guides. Prices vary ₱3,000–4,500 based on group size and certification level.

Day 5: Beaches & Departure

Expense Budget Mid-Range
Ferry (round-trip) ₱656–1,160 ₱656–1,160
Motorbike rental (5 days) ₱1,750 ₱2,500
Diving (2 dives on Day 3 + 1 on Day 4) ₱7,500 ₱10,500
Apo Island day trip (included above)
Meals (13 meals × ₱225) ₱2,925 ₱4,000
Accommodation (4 nights) ₱1,200–2,000 ₱3,200–5,000
Entrance fees & activities ₱250 ₱400
Total ₱14,281–18,335 ₱21,256–31,560

The 7-Day Deep Dive: Full Siquijor Story

A full week lets you see Siquijor beyond the highlight reel. You can do advanced diving certs, stay at a remote beach resort, explore less-touristed parts of the island, and actually sleep.

Days 1–2: Arrival & Acclimatization (as 5-day plan)

Days 3–5: Diving Focus & Apo Overnight Option

Tip

Advanced cert is worth doing in Siquijor because (a) small groups, (b) safe warm water, (c) operators know every site intimately, (d) cost is lower than many other SE Asia destinations. Book at least 48 hours ahead with your operator.

Days 6–7: Remote Exploration & Departure

2

Packing too many dives into one day.

More than two dives per day increases nitrogen loading and decompression risk. Most safe operators cap 2 dives/day. If you want 5 dives in 5 days, spread them over Days 3–5 with rest days between.

3

Skipping the interior villages.

Tourists see only beaches and waterfalls. The real Siquijor — traditional healing, farming, family life — is inland. Spend at least one afternoon talking to locals or visiting a cultural site.

Expense Budget (DIY) Comfort
Ferry (round-trip) ₱656–1,160 ₱656–1,160
Motorbike rental (7 days) ₱2,450 ₱3,500
Diving (4 dives + 1 advanced cert) ₱15,500 ₱18,000
Apo Island overnight ₱1,000–1,500 ₱2,000–3,000
Meals (19 meals × ₱225) ₱4,275 ₱6,000
Accommodation (6 nights) ₱1,800–3,000 ₱4,800–8,000
Massage, activities, misc. ₱500 ₱1,500
Total ₱26,781–35,925 ₱36,456–51,160

Timing, Transport & Practical Tips

Best Times to Visit

Peak season (November–May): Dry, calm seas, perfect diving. November–February are coolest (22–26°C). March–May are hot (30–35°C) but still good. Book accommodations 4–6 weeks ahead. Ferry delays are rare but possible (typhoons, mechanical). Plan conservatively.

Green season (June–October): Fewer tourists, cheaper, lush landscapes. Rain is frequent but brief (afternoon showers). Seas choppier, some dive sites close. Good for experienced divers and budget travelers. Avoid diving August–September (worst conditions).

Ferry Timing Reality

Motorbike Rental Realities

Automatic motorbikes (110cc) rent for ₱350–500/day in Larena and San Juan village. Manual bikes are cheaper (₱250–350) but less common. Helmets are required (laws enforced post-2024). An International Driving Permit is technically required; in practice, locals often don't ask, but carry it anyway. Roads are potholed in places — drive slowly (30–40 km/h) and avoid night riding.

Warning

One-way bike rentals across provinces (e.g., renting in Dumaguete, dropping in Larena) are not standard. Stick to local rentals. Bikes should have working brakes, lights, and mirrors before you accept them. Test drive for 5 min.

Meal Costs & Dining

Accommodation Tips for Each Length

Tip

For Apo Island dives, stay near Dumaguete or take a ferry to Larena, then book a pickup from the dive operator. Don't commute daily — overnight on Apo is magical, and operators handle transport.

Activity Sequencing

A common mistake is overloading Days 1–2 with activities, leaving nothing for Days 4–5. Reverse this: Days 1–2 are light acclimatization, Days 3–4 are intensive (diving, Apo Island), Days 5+ are mixed (snorkel, explore, rest). Your body adjusts to travel and heat better this way.

4

Booking accommodation in Dumaguete instead of on the island.

Dumaguete is a transit hub, not a destination. Spend one night max (if arriving late), then move to Larena, San Juan, or your dive resort. You lose time commuting and miss the island's magic.

5

Planning a 5-day trip without at least 2 full days for diving or water sports.

Siquijor's appeal is water-based. If you're not diving, snorkeling, or cliff jumping, you'll finish sightseeing by Day 3. Commit to at least one water activity per day or extend to a 7-day trip with downtime.

Packing by Itinerary Length

All itineraries assume you're comfortable with motorbikes. If not, hire a driver (₱1,000–1,500/day) or book all-inclusive tour packages (₱3,000–5,000/day). Guides provide context and safety.
